I’ve been thinking about baptism on and off again over the past few weeks. Growing up with a Mennonite mother, I was dedicated (instead of baptized) in the PCUSA and my parents encouraged me to get baptized whenever I was ready to make that public statement of my faith. I’m going to write a bit more about baptism in the next week or so, but I finally was baptized in Idaho, 3 years ago on Palm Sunday, April 13th, 2003 (which was also my 23rd birthday). My parents were able to be there and it was a very meaningful experience for my family and for the church community. Above is an elder and my pastor pulling me up from my full-immersion. In the spirit of coming up with captions for old photos, anyone have a good caption for this photo?
