GOD, brilliant Lord, yours is a household name.
Nursing infants gurgle choruses about you;
toddlers shout the songs
That drown out enemy talk,
and silence atheist babble.
I look up at your macro-skies, dark and enormous,
your handmade sky-jewelry,
Moon and stars mounted in their settings.
Then I look at my micro-self and wonder,
Why do you bother with us?
Why take a second look our way?
Yet we’ve so narrowly missed being gods,
bright with Eden’s dawn light.
You put us in charge of your handcrafted world,
repeated to us your Genesis-charge.
Had a great day today. Did stuff that needed to be done, grabbed coffee with a good friend at Java, and had a great evening at youth group. Someone from the group invited a person from school, and they came and were a great addition to our evening, and they were excited about some of the stuff we have the rest of this month, so I know they’ll be coming back, probably bringing his brother [who showed up at the very end, with his $100 Hummer remote control car] as well. I drove them home after youth group, and was just really excited about having some new faces there.
So, I was already in a good mood driving home when I saw how beautiful the sky was tonight. What is it about the night sky, especially here in Idaho, that makes you feel God’s presence and love in a very real, but really weird way. I liked God tonight.
