[I should slow down blogging sometime soon, I just seem to keep having things I want to post…]
We are doing .bE 3 more times before I leave Idaho. March 20th at the Idaho Catholic Youth Convention, April 20th at the 8th St Center in Buhl, ID and then sometime in May at Wendell Presbyterian. I was calling churches in Buhl today to let them know about it. I called a Catholic church and the woman was very excited about it. Next I called the Buhl Calvary Chapel. I told him about our “alternative, experiential worship experience” we were doing, we talked for a bit, and then he said, “Now, tell me a bit more about what this consists of, because whenever I hear experiential, I get a little worried. I mean, our faith is NOT experiential. Our faith is based strictly on facts. And whenever we started getting into experiences, that’s stuff that’s just not right.”
Maybe I should have used the word multi-sensory instead. We talked a bit more.
I love how the Catholics get really excited about .bE – interesting. Our faith is based solely on facts…
I’m applying for The Ministry Fellows Program (part of The Fund For Theological Education).
This is how they describe the program:
Before beginning seminary in the fall, Ministry Fellows will attend the FTE Summer Conference on Excellence in Ministry, which will allow Fellows to engage some of North America’s most distinguished theologians, pastors, and ecclesial leaders in an informal dialogue setting. Fellows will also return the following year to this conference.
In the following summer, Fellows will receive a stipend of up to $5000 for self-designed projects in ministry that promise to enrich their theological education.
I’m thinking .bE could be an exciting ministry project to research more, and take on the road next summer. Who knows…
