Singing in US Bank

April 23, 2004 Adam Walker Cleaveland

I was so frustrated today by US Cellular (my cell provider) and their insistence on my need to provide a proof of address in New Jersey (which I will not have until September – which they insisted I needed in June) in order for me to avoid paying the cancellation fee to get out of my contract. I’m sure I irritated the lady who I was speaking with, and she most definitely irritated me. I’m awaiting a call from a supervisor tomorrow morning. So as I walked in my USBank in Wendell, I was quite peeved. My favorite teller saw me walk in and asked how I was. I said, “I’m a bit frustrated today, but I hope you’re doing well.” She was. As I walked up to the counter to cash my birthday check from my parents, she noticed it said “Happy Birthday” in the Memo line and she asked, “Now Adam – when was it your birthday?” I told her it was last week. She looked at the teller next to her and said, “Now – don’t you think we need to sing Happy Birthday to Adam?” And they did.

Right there in the bank in Wendell. And I immediately forgot about the pissy US Cellular lady – and realized how much I’m going to even miss my bank teller in Wendell.
