The joys of being home…

June 25, 2004 Adam Walker Cleaveland

Living at home is always an interesting thing…coming home. Changes. Endless amount of my old crap that I just *know* I have to go through sometime. A guy coming to cut down the old tree I used to climb in – something about it being dead and all. More traffic lights to our little town. The new Starbucks which clogs up the exit off I-5 to my house.

Thankfully some thing never change…our same hairdresser works at the same place. The same librarian at the city library remembered me and hooked me up with a Library card. And of course, for us in Chehalis, the Yard Bird stands as a symbol of…(no, not white trash)…of…well…I don’t know that it’s much a symbol for anything, but it’s just a funny big bird in our town. Yard Birds. I used to get my hair cut there. We go there to watch movies. Yah, it’s one of those things people remember from your town. I was chatting in the Boaz Lounge today with Tallskinnykiwi and some others, and they were all familiar with western Washington and one of them had been to Yard Birds before. Y’all should come and check it out!
