Finished the first few days of classes (though there is one class I have not had yet), and I’m pretty excited about classes. Nick is in my room reading right now and is very excited about the book we’re reading for OT101, some good stuff on creation accounts, myth, the serpent, etc. I’m going to get to that, as soon as I do a little blog work. My Paradigms & Progress in Theology course is going to be very exciting stuff, lots of pomo stuff (acc. to Andrew, the “real” pomo-theory/thought, and now the pop-pomo that so many easily embrace…)
After class today, I had work in the cafeteria. I’m still really enjoying that, and it’s a great way to keep meeting new people and just really making people feel welcomed and hopefully making them laugh/smile. It’s a good job…at 3.30pm yesterday we had some Ultimate Frisbee which was very intense. When I was at Whitworth, I felt like a bit of a ‘poser’ player for the first couple years and didn’t really get good/better until my senior year. But it was fun to come here and be able to play with some guys who were at Whitworth and hear them say I am “way” better now than I was at Whitworth. Everytime I got the frisbee, a couple of the older guys would yell “TAKE AWAY HIS FOREHAND!” which was great…they didn’t take it away though.
A little dinner after frisbee and then a shower and nap. At around 9pm, I headed over to 4th Brown for some wine and hangtime until the 70’s Party at the D-Bar. Quite the scene, the place was absolutely packed about 30min after we got there. Good music, and after a few drinks, I was able to release my “inner-groove-thang” – which doesn’t come out all that often, so that was nice. Some dancing and hanging with a ton of the seminary folk who made it out for the party. I’m off to do some reading homework right now. I leave you with a pictorial essay of my first Friday night during the academic year at PTS.
