Hanging in the Hood

October 16, 2004 Adam Walker Cleaveland

Well, in the spirit of my good friend Tony, it’s time to get transparent. So I went on a date last night with Katie.

It was awesome.

A few things before any details. Getting ready was quite entertaining, especially when I realized I own two brown belts, and you can’t wear a brown belt with grey pants and a black shirt and shoes. So, we finally got that taken care of, and then I realized I couldn’t tie the tie. It was a brand new tie, and it just was NOT cooperating. Josh also tried for about 10 minutes. But…eventually my buddy Hudson came to the rescue and we were back in business.

We started off by going to Target for a little shopping activity, which was a lot of fun. Then to dinner at Chianti’s, in Trenton (the hood), for some good Italian food. It was recommended to me by some friends here at Princeton, and I was pretty happy with it. After dinner, we went to the Mill Hill Saloon for drinks and live jazz (the music of Tim Conley). It was pouring down rain (uhh, yah, an umbrella would have been good) so we were completely drenched when we got there. This place was the sight-unseen, chancing-it-place of the evening, but it was pretty cool. And we heard some music, continued to enjoy good conversation and just chilled. We made it back to campus and then watched Saved! and finished off a nice bottle of Blue Nun wine (which is Katie’s favorite and I’m definitely getting an appreciation for it!). Good evening, good food, wine, beer, movie, but more importantly, great company. Who knows…sounds like there could be a second date in the future. We’ll see…
