This semester has finally got underway, and I’m feeling terribly swamped tonight. If it were just the freakin’ Hebrew exam I have on Friday where I have to know the hiphil and piel verb forms, the imperfect, suffixes and all of that jazz, it might be okay. But I’ve said yes to way too much as of right now. I’m currently working on a website for a Lilly Grant that our Christian Ed. department received, working as a Research assistant for 10 hrs/wk for another professor to develop the Practical Theology Departmental website here at Princeton (and I have to present 2-3 designs next Wednesday at a departmental meeting), and I am now working with Kenda Dean on some emerging church stuff here at Princeton for 5-10 hrs/wk. I don’t really know what I was thinking, but it’s all catching up to me now. I’m excited about almost all of it (except for sitting in front of my computer screen for 5 hours yesterday, doing online tutorials, trying to understand CSS – I ended up finding a sweet template off of Dreamweaver that I’m going to work off of). Actually, if anyone has any advice with CSS or knows of any good websites for learning CSS super-fast(!!), please give me some links!
At any rate, my blog has been a little slow. I have a lot of stuff I want to write about, so instead of actually writing about any of them, here is a list of things I want to write about, but don’t have the time to right now:
- The Progressive Christian Bloggers Network
- Hermeneutics: there is no one true "meaning" in the biblical text; we have to come to grips with the wide horizon of interpretations and learn to seek out a meaning that speaks to us that will have potential meaning…
- The idea of needing to "resist" the biblical text
- Polygamy and missions
- Authenticity in blogging (and how that relates to other issues, specifically in relation to those on the ordination track)
- Thoughts on ordination in general (I’m becoming skeptical – and hope that my CPM doesn’t read this)
- The tertium quid
- A conversation I had with a 40-something friend from my church back in Idaho concerning the emerging church and some of his thoughts — some good stuff.
Damn, this blog would be good if I could hit all of these. Well, that’s the plan as soon as this Hebrew exam is over. This Saturday, during my Sabbath, I’m going to go through some of these posts, so, there is something to be looking forward to. I don’t like to be like "Hey, come on back for the good stuff…" – but at this point, that’s all I can do. Until then, I want to direct you to some posts from friends of mine:
- Dooce on _____ (yah, I can’t type that)
- Jill on positive thinking
- April on dating in general; AND
- Nick on dating at seminary
