Dahab by night…

June 13, 2005 Adam Walker Cleaveland

Dahab is a diver’s village – there is phenomenal snorkeling all over the area, and so it is filled with divers – who are a pretty interesting group of folks. They all come out at night – it seemed to be a bit of a ghost town when we arrived at around 4pm today. It’s a pretty nice place – our room (I met at South African, Stuart, on the bus to St. Katherine) has air-conditioning, which around this area, is pretty much an essential – it doesn’t freeze the room, it just makes it so that it is barely sleepable. Our hotel “manager,” Sameh, is a very nice guy and he’s been hooking us up with some good deals on the dinner, sheesha, etc. I am going to change plans and stay here for a few days, relax by the beach, and just chill before heading up to Taba, to cross over into Israel, where I will then stay in Eilat for a night, and then stay with an Israeli family in Jerusalem for Friday night (which will be Shabbat, which I just realized, which should be pretty interesting). From there, I head on to the next section of my trip – which I am very much looking forward to.

So, until now, you can find me at the South Reef of Dahab, in the Sinai of Egypt. And they have hi-speed, internet – life is good. So good.
