Mark beat me to posting pictures, but below are a couple of my favorite shots from the trip that Sarah and I went on to the Georgia Aquarium.
And a note if you are interested in going – at first, you’d think it would be good to find a time when there would be less children running around, a time that would be less busy. But part of the joy is being there with the children, seeing their excitement at seeing a whale shark, beluga whale or sting ray for the very first time – it definitely adds to the experience [note: I’ve just been told that it’s NOT fun when there are so many people there that you can’t see anything. So, obviously – it’s a fine balance…]
Apparently this is the 2nd largest viewing window/tank in the world – beat only by one in Japan or China, and it is 2″ larger. You kind of have to wonder why Atlanta didn’t just drop the extra bucks to get another 3″ so THEY could have the largest one. Huh.
That’s right folks. No longer are aquariums strictly spectator-events. You can now actually participate in the life of an aquarium. Here I am hanging out with the penguins. Pretty hot, huh?
I thought this guy was great. A beautiful huge sea turtle, and he was a pretty big fan of posing for photos.
