Rollercoasters, Waffles & Clowns

October 7, 2006 Adam Walker Cleaveland

Tonight was a night of firsts. A group of Columbia Theological Seminary students went out to Six Flags Over Georgia for the evening. This was going to be a big night because…I have never really ridden a ‘real’ rollercoaster. I’ve done little dinky ones, but never a full-fledged, dangerous, you think your stomach and lower intestines are going to fly out of your mouth kind of roller coaster. So we got there and the first one we did was GOLIATH. Goliath is the newest one there; it’s biggest drop is 175 feet and gets up to 70mph. It was amazing…by the end of the night, it was by far my favorite one. However, there were others that were equally great, including Superman, where you’re really flying through the air like Superman (even though we got stuck in that position, see first picture on left, for about 15 minutes when the ride sort of broke down after our first run through). One of our group’s favorite parts of the evening was probably walking around the park for about 15-20minutes as we made our way to Batman (another amazing ride), while my wife screamed “BATMAN” the e-n-t-i-r-e time. It was…well, amazing to say the least. I also had the chance to have my photo taken with a clown with my Fact: Clowns Eat People t-shirt on from Randomshirts.com, so I could win a contest they currently have going on. Anyway, it was a great evening.

But that wasn’t the end.

To top off the evening, a group of us went to Waffle House – as I was, until tonight, a “Waffle house virgin.” And it was good. I got the waffle, and hashbrowns covered. Amazing…however, I think I’m beginning to experience some of the post-Waffle House stomach blues. Good times though…
