Photoshop Fun: Creating Miniature Sets

February 22, 2007 Adam Walker Cleaveland

Miniature Set

There is a fun little trend going around the web recently that involves taking photographs and using Photoshop to make them look as if they are simply photographs of little miniature sets. I read a tutorial here, and watched a video here, and below you can see some of my attempts. It’s a pretty fun idea. Try one out and leave the link here in the comments.

The above photo was taken 2 summers ago in Manger Square in Bethlehem during noon-time prayers in front of the mosque. Below you can see some of the other images I was playing with. There will be two images that look similar: the top one is the original file, and below it is the one I “miniaturized.”

Creating these in Photoshop was a lot of fun. While I really do enjoy doing web & graphic design, it seems that the only time I open up Photoshop on my computer is to sit down and do some work for Cleave Design, so it’s kind of fun when I get a chance to do something fun like this. A while ago, I made our Yaris look like it was from the movie Cars. You can see that graphic here.
