Face2Face Project

Face to Face

A few weeks ago, a buddy of mine sent me a link to the Face2Face Project website. This is how they describe their project:

The Face2Face project is to make portraits of Palestinians and Israelis doing the same job and to post them face to face, in huge formats, in unavoidable places, on the Israeli and the Palestinian sides.

In a very sensitive context, we need to be clear. We are in favor of a solution for which two countries, Israel and Palestine would live peacefully within safe and internationally recognized borders.

Go to the site and check out the intro video – it’s really interesting stuff. Basically they are plastering these gigantic photos of Palestinians and Israelis all over the place, on the wall, on billboards, on the Palestinian side, on the Israeli side. The photographs are amazing, the concept is cool; it will be interesting to see if anything comes of their work. I know they have a book and a documentary planned for the near future. I know there are some Palestinian activists who have a problem with artwork (even provocative propaganda artwork) being used on the Wall – they want the world to see the Wall as the huge, ugly thing that it is, not a place that is used for artwork. Yet, the project is still something that I think could be a pretty cool thing. Check it out.
