If you haven’t heard about the Alt7 Conference at Montreat yet, you need to go check it out now! The theme is “The Power at Work Within Us” and it looks like it will be a really great gathering. I’m going to be there and will be co-presenting two workshops: “Emerging Worship Environments” with Troy Bronsink, and “Real Ministry in a Virtual World” with Shawn Coons. This brief description of the conference is taken from the website:
As clergy under 40, we are leaders in the church, yet we are younger than the average Presbyterian. We may be online, energized, underpaid, frustrated, creative, isolated, prophetic, weary, traditional, misunderstood, innovative, disillusioned, post-modern, hopeful, or all of the above. Connect with a community of young clergy for spiritual renewal, mutual encouragement, relevant workshops, and worship you don’t have to lead. We pray that we “may be filled with all the fullness of God.
The key leaders will be Troy Bronsink, Bruce Reyes-Chow, Loli Reiter and Alice Ridgill. In addition, there are a whole host of workshop leaders, including Chris Tuttle, David Forney, Liz Forney, Amy Summers-Minette, Troy Bronsink, Eriberto Soto, Jan Edmiston, Carol Howard Merritt, T. Clark Simmons, Brian Wyatt, Philip Lotspeich, Monte McClain, Joyce MacKichan Walker, Shawn Coons and Bruce Reyes-Chow.
- The preachers are 4 wonderful clergy under 40 – Loli Reiter, Alice Ridgill, Troy Bronsink, and Moderator Bruce Reyes-Chow.
- The worship music leaders are John Austin and Erin Echo whose musical background and experience ranges from working with Brian McLaren to playing at Lilith Fair.
- Workshops on Solo Pastoring, working as an Associate, negotiating terms of call, the Board of Pensions, creative worship, the postmodern church, women in ministry, new church development, online ministry, and more!
- Spontaneous and organic times and spaces for meetups.
Space is limited to around 200 registrations, so you’re going to want to sign up soon! I hope to see you there.
