The blog has been a little light recently – but with a lot of things going on, Holy Week starting…and too many deadlines to need to meet, Pomomusings hasn’t gotten a lot of attention. But since I know some folks who read this blog are runners, I couldn’t help but pass on an unsolicited product review for a new set of headphones I tried out tonight on a run. I had just been using some earbuds for running, and they were working okay, but when I ran the 5K I had many problems with them. The cord was too long and kept getting in the way, the earbuds kept falling out and it was just annoying.
I was having similar problems on Saturday when I went for my longest run yet: 6.23 miles. It doesn’t seem like much compared to the 13 I’ll be running in a few weeks, but it’s the longest I’ve gone yet and I did it without walking at all – which was great. And I was happy with an average 10:30 minute mile for the full run). Anyway – the earbuds kept falling out.
So I picked up a pair of Sony Active Style Headphones (MDR-AS40EX) at Best Buy and just tried them out tonight. They were perfect for the running I do. They have a short 2′ cord – which works perfectly for when I use my armband, and they have an extender to make it a normal length cord as well. With the over-the-ear “hangers” they fit perfectly, definitely don’t come off and it really made my run a lot more enjoyable to not have to be worrying about the cords or the earbuds or anything – you just and the open road.
I picked them up at Best Buy but you can save $15 by picking them up at Amazon.com here. At any rate, this isn’t a sponsored post and Sony isn’t giving me a free pair of these just so that I’ll tell you about them. I just wanted to share something that I’ve just recently discovered for runners. If you’re looking for a new set of headphones, you’ll want to check these out.
