I spent yesterday running around the Bay area, giving some talks on technology & faith and visiting some of the headquarters of my favorite tech companies (Google, Facebook and Apple). My first talk was at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Palo Alto, and I gave a talk called “Wired, Wonders & Worries: Technology and Soul” and shared a bit about where our world is currently with technology and social media, and how people of faith can responsibly enjoy and use these resources. I think it went pretty well, and you can see the slides here.
Then I toured around the area on my pilgrimage to the holy tech sites, and then went up to Centerville Presbyterian Church in Fremont to present at a seminar for parents on “Raising Kids in an Electronic Age” (slides here). I received some great feedback from that presentation, and so I think it also went well.
I really enjoy sharing with people about these tools that I use on a daily basis and how they can use and enjoy them. But we also had some great conversations, particularly with parents, on how to work with their kids and these technologies. If you’re in the Bay area and would like me to come and present at your church or organization, you can fill out a request here and I’d love to see what we can work out.
