It’s about 12:45am on January 1, 2013. I’m sitting in a dark living room, in front of our lighted Christmas tree, that we’ll take down tomorrow, before I head back to work. Sarah and I spent the evening with a friend for awhile, and then cleaning up the house a bit, watching some Gossip Girl, drinking white wine and Martinelli’s Sparkling Apple Cider (the champagne I got was crap) and then sat down and answered the birthday questions, an examen-like exercise that I preached about last Sunday.
Our friends from seminary, Nate & Elaine, taught us the questions (though I think they were not the originators of them), and we’ve been using them since. The questions are:
- What’s the best thing that’s happened to you in the past year?
- What’s the worst thing that’s happened to you in the past year?
- What are you most looking forward to in the coming year?
Most of our answers had to do with Caleb, and I truly am looking forward to seeing him continue to grow over the next year.
I’m thinking 2013 is going to be an interesting year, and so I look forward to seeing how it continues to unfold. I’m also looking forward to writing a bit more here on this blog, and sharing my thoughts about ministry, the church, theology and other topics. WordPress.com put together a fun little Annual Report for Pomomusings, which you can see here. My favorite part of the report was this:
About 55,000 tourists visit Liechtenstein every year. This blog was viewed about 300,000 times in 2012. If it were Liechtenstein, it would take about 5 years for that many people to see it. Your blog had more visits than a small country in Europe!
I wish you all a Happy New Year and we’ll see you around the interwebs.
