Lent Photo-a-Day: Spirit

February 22, 2013 Adam Walker Cleaveland

Spirit-Fire

It was beautiful in Ashland last week – almost 60º out, going on walks with Caleb…and then it snowed twice this week, and now it’s 48º and raining. And cold. And chilly. Now, I realize it’s not cold like Nebraska cold, or Chicago cold…but it’s not what I was hoping for this week. I just walked into Starbucks (aka St. Arbucks) and was lucky to grab a seat next to this fire…and immediately my disposition changed. The warmth from the flames almost surprised me and allowed me to switch gears. And I think that’s the way the Spirit works – it surprises us, warms us up, enters into our lives in surprising ways, sometimes just when we need her…and helps to change our disposition…dis-orients us at times too…I welcome the Spirit for just those reasons.
