Our family was one of the first in Chehalis, Washington to sign up for “the internet.” Before that, I had been playing some games on a few local BBSs, and I couldn’t quite grasp what the internet was, nor why I would need it. My buddy kept telling me “Dude, it has EVERYTHING on it. You can find EVERYTHING.” I didn’t understand why I would need to find everything. How things have changed…
I had my first website in 1994, when I was a freshman in high school. The guy who ran our local internet company came over and showed me how to do it and I was off into the wonderful world of HTML. Unfortunately, the earliest version of my “web site” the Wayback Machine has is the 1997 version. I think it will still give many of you a laugh. Even the name is funny; I was trying to set myself apart from those people who had “home” pages, so I created myself a “house” page. To see an early version of my “web presence” – check out Adam B. Cleaveland’s House Page.
