As of August 30, 2008, this blog has now been around for five years (anyone out there been reading it since it began?). It seems a little funny to say that – it certainly wasn’t something I thought would carry this much longevity or traction when I started it. But it’s been a lot of fun. In case you want to check out the 2003 version of pomomusings, check out this version courtesy of the Wayback Machine.
Our good friends Nate and Elaine always celebrate birthdays by asking The Birthday Questions. I thought I’d do the same for pomomusings on its 5th birthday:
What was the best thing about this past year?
One of my favorite things about this year was the Kingdom of God Guest Blogger Series I did on this blog. Some really wonderful people wrote posts, including Phyllis Tickle, Julie Clawson, Brian McLaren and A.K.M. Adam. There was a real variety of thoughts and visions of the Kingdom of God and it produced some really interesting dialogue.
What was the worst thing about this past year?
While this probably ended up being a good thing, my Faith House Manhattan post ended up causing me to be questioned/interviewed/interrogated for a full weekend in Berkeley and ended up being the impetus to losing a potential job offer (more info here).
What are you most looking forward to about next year?
As I am now back in full-time ministry, I’m looking forward to interacting more with theology and books I’ll be reading as part of my continuing education here on my blog. When I first started this blog (as you can see here), it was initially set up to be a conversation place for a potential book on postmodernism and Christian faith. While I don’t have any goals of writing a book anytime soon, I do hope that I can focus more on theological and ministry issues, and keep honing my skill in writing.
What about everyone else? How would you answer those questions for pomomusings?
